4種類の備前粘土が長い年月を経て自然と地層になった、備前の中でもとても珍しい原土をそのまま使用。水に浸し、柔らかくしてから指で石や植物の根などの不純物を取り除き、菊練りも電動ろくろでの成形もせず、全て手びねりで仕上げました。
また、登り窯で焼成を行い、窯内の温度が約1200℃の時に鉄製の長い挟み棒で作品を挟み窯外へ引き出し、大量の籾殻の中へ埋めて急冷させることで、見応えのある銀灰色を生み出しました。
見込みには本来備前焼では使用しない透明釉薬を施しており、急冷によって透明になるはずの釉薬が白く発色しています。
幾重にも重なる微妙な色の変化から、備前土の力強さ、どれほど眺めても見飽きない味わい深さが伝わります。
